On EFL Student-Teachers’ Questioning in the Classroom

Abstract: This paper introduces the differences in classroom questioning strategies between the EFL student teachers’ and the in -service teachers’ in a middle school in Haikou by classroom -discourse analysis focusing on the main characteristics of the way of their classroom questioning in 3 aspects: (1) the purposes of questioning, (2) the waiting time for students’ responses and (3) the teacher’s feedback to Ss’ responses through comparison. It aims at clarifying what are lacking in EFL student teachers’ classroom questioning skills and strategies and the reason why the questions the student teachers raised in the classroom different from that by the in-service teachers. The research may help both the EFL teacher educators and EFL teachers understand the classroom questioning and the procedures of its investigation. (摘要包括研究目的、内容/方法、结果)
