An estimated 7 million passengers rode the rails yesterday.
In Anhui's capital Hefei, over 70-thousand passengers took trips out of the local railway station, up from 57-thousand the previous day.
Tianjin's main railway station saw its passenger numbers increase 20-percent from Monday.
Traveler numbers have also spiked in Heilongjiang's capital, Harbin.
Zheng Xuejing is the deputy director of the Harbin Railway Station.
"The passenger number reached nearly 40,000 Saturday and increased to 50,000. From today, our return passenger flow will start to peak. According to the flows of the past years, their number will likely amount to 80,000."
Over 400 trains have been added nationwide to meet the demand through yesterday. The national holiday officially comes to an end tomorrow.
