顾也力：降低英语在高考中的权重，说明我们至今没有意识到外语对中国未来发展的重要性。这种方式虽对应试教育会有一定缓解作用，但治标不治本。而且此举对英语教育后患无穷。中国在未来必须走向世界，英语教育应该看成国家的语言战略，而不仅是一门知识。此外，降低英语在高考中的权重，可能会使那些身处三线城市以及广大农村地区的学生更将无法接受良好的英语教育。

Pros and Cons on the Socialized College Entrance Examination of English
Abstract: Today’s English education in China has been no longer the realm of scholars in the circle of education, it has become a public concern. Any reform on the English education will inevitably contribute to a big storm in public opinions. In the end of 2013, Ministry of Education in China launched a reform program aiming to socialize the college entrance examination of English. In order to arouse more people’s concern for English education as well as its reforms, an analysis on pros and cons of the program is conducted.
