体育全球化远远早于经济全球化。呼啦圈20世纪90年代一度风靡中国。几乎每个人都玩起这种塑料圈圈。医生称它有强身健体的功效。电视台举办各种呼啦圈比赛,还搞过申请吉尼斯世界纪录的事。对呼啦圈的需求如此之大,以至于一段时间内呼啦圈脱销。呼啦圈首先盛行于1958年的美国,当时每只售价为9角3分。三十多年后,拜中国改革开放之赐,这一波全球化的热潮影响到中国。

Sports globalization started way ahead of economic globalization. Hula hoop was very popular in China during the 1990s. Nearly everyone played with the plastic ring. Doctors claim that it is a good tool for keeping fit. Various contests were held on TV . Someone even tried to apply for a Guinness world record. The demand for hula hoops was so high that they were out of stock for quite some time. First prevailing in America in 1958, hula hoop was sold at 93 cents each at that time.
Over 30 years later, thanks to its open door policy, the upsurge of hula hoops reached China.
